FW.MEDIA: Technology. Innovators. Europe.
Our work is for the people who build, fund, govern and deploy technology. We provide the context needed to understand markets, identify the forces at work and make better-informed decisions.
Europe’s frontier technologies are no longer a niche
Artificial intelligence, compute, semiconductors, quantum, robotics, space, defence, energy, biotechnology and advanced manufacturing are changing the terms of competition. They require patient capital, scientific depth, industrial discipline and an understanding of regulation and geopolitics. A product launch is often only the visible part of the story.
FW.MEDIA follows the technologies, innovators and infrastructures behind those shifts: AI, robotics, quantum, space, defence, energy, biotech, semiconductors, cloud, cybersecurity, compute, photonics, nuclear and advanced manufacturing. We look at what must happen after the laboratory: how a company is financed, qualified, manufactured, deployed and turned into a durable European business.
The question we follow: can Europe turn capability into power?
Europe has research institutions, industrial know-how, engineering talent and a growing pool of technology companies. The difficult work begins afterwards: financing long development cycles, securing supply chains and compute, building factories, winning customers and keeping strategic value on the continent.
FW.MEDIA makes these connections visible. We examine how technologies move from scientific promise to industrial reality, and how capital, regulation, public procurement and market access determine who captures the value.
From FrenchWeb to FW.MEDIA
FW.MEDIA builds on an editorial lineage begun with FrenchWeb in Paris in 2008. Over more than 40,000 published articles, analyses, interviews and field reports, this work documented the rise of the French and European technology economy.
Before the French Tech label was created, FrenchWeb was already helping to connect innovators across France and maintaining a dialogue with French entrepreneurs abroad. That history informs FW.MEDIA’s conviction that an innovation ecosystem grows stronger when its founders, investors, researchers, industrial groups and public decision-makers can see one another clearly.
FW.MEDIA is not an English translation of FrenchWeb. It is an English-language European publication with its own editorial agenda: frontier technologies, industrial capacity and the strategic choices shaping Europe’s place in the world. FrenchWeb remains focused on the French technology ecosystem and the transformation of businesses.
A record of convening
- We Love Entrepreneurs
- Through the documentary We Love Entrepreneurs, the FrenchWeb team met more than sixty founders, investors and ecosystem builders in Paris, San Francisco and New York. Thirty-five hours of interviews were condensed into a 52-minute film about the ambitions, failures and doubts behind entrepreneurship.
- FrenchWeb Days
- The FrenchWeb Days brought founders, executives, investors and experts together around subjects including fintech, connected devices, media, digital trends, innovation and talent. They turned editorial conversations into places for debate and shared experience.
- FW500, now WE INNOVATE 500
- FW500 was created to make the most dynamic French technology companies easier to identify. It has since evolved into WE INNOVATE 500, a broader mapping of emerging technology businesses and their growth trajectories.
Backed by entrepreneurs committed to the ecosystem
FW.MEDIA is published by DECODE MEDIA, a media company backed by technology entrepreneurs who believe that a strong innovation ecosystem needs more than capital. It needs reliable information, rigorous analysis, visible role models and places where ideas and experience can circulate.
Among the technology entrepreneurs backing DECODE MEDIA are Pierre Kosciusko-Morizet, Pierre Krings, Marie-Christine Levet, Roland Coutas, Catherine Barba, Fabrice Sergent, Thierry Roussel, Fabien Baunay, Jules Vo Dinh, Arnaud Lavrard, Éric Bennephtali and Philippe Pinault.
Their long-term support reflects a shared commitment to building stronger links between entrepreneurs, investors, talents, industrial groups and institutions across Europe. Editorial decisions, fact-checking and the clear distinction between journalism and partner content remain the responsibility of the newsroom.
A community of people who make decisions
FW.MEDIA does not write for a generic technology audience. Its readers include founders, CEOs, technology and industrial leaders, investors, researchers, policymakers, corporate executives and public institutions. They come for a signal, a context and an analysis that can inform a decision.
Across the DECODE MEDIA editorial ecosystem, more than 110,000 executives follow its publications, which generate more than one million monthly views. These figures describe the group’s editorial ecosystem, not FW.MEDIA alone. Their value lies in the conversations they connect: company builders, capital providers, industrial partners and decision-makers who rarely operate in the same room.
How we work
FW.MEDIA publishes reporting, analysis, interviews, investigations, data-led formats and field perspectives. We focus on facts, identifiable sources, technical and market context, business models and comparisons that make a claim testable. Our purpose is not to add noise to the technology cycle, but to explain what changes, for whom and at what cost.
Our editorial team is responsible for editorial choices and the verification of information. Artificial intelligence may assist with documentary research, transcription, translation or editorial production; it does not replace editorial judgement, fact-checking or accountability.
Partner content is clearly labelled and kept distinct from newsroom output. When a factual error is brought to our attention, we review it and correct it where appropriate.
