FDDAY 2026: the end of the unicorn era, profitability is now the metric that matters

For a decade, the success of a French startup was largely told through its funding rounds. Each round came with a figure, a valuation, an implicit ranking and, for the most adept, a photograph wide enough to fit the founders, investors and a few bottles of champagne.

The market correction has brought some order back to this staging. Investors have not disappeared, but they now expect stronger revenues, tighter control over capital consumption and a credible path to profitability. For many startups, the priority is no longer simply to determine who will finance the next round, but who will actually buy the product.

FDDAY 2026 reflects this shift. Its fourteenth edition, taking place on 16 September at the Musée des Arts Forains in Paris, will bring together around 4,500 founders, investors and innovation leaders, according to France Digitale. These figures reveal the structure of the event: a single day, several stages and a succession of formats designed to generate commercial, financial and regulatory connections.

In just a few years, FDDAY has become the French ecosystem’s major back-to-business gathering, where participants come to take stock of the priorities shaping the new cycle.

Large corporates invited to become customers of France Digitale member companies

The first group of speakers announced for 2026 gives significant prominence to executives from major French companies, including Stéphane Pallez, Chairwoman and CEO of FDJ United; Philippe Palazzi, CEO of Groupe Casino and Chairman of Monoprix and Naturalia; and Marie-Ange Debon, Chairwoman and CEO of La Poste.

CES returns in search of European trends

Gary Shapiro, Executive Chair of the Consumer Technology Association, will speak as part of the return of CES Tech Trends, giving the Las Vegas technology gathering an opportunity to recruit participants for its 2027 edition.

A new area for early-stage founders

The 2026 edition will introduce an Entrepreneurs Zone for early-stage founders, featuring practical masterclasses and one-on-one mentoring sessions. The initiative addresses a recurring weakness of large events: young founders hear executives recount ten-year journeys, but often leave without answers to their immediate questions about pricing, making their first sales hire, allocating equity or preparing for a Seed round.

Workshops limited to around 80 participants will also focus on the roles of CFOs, CTOs, CPOs and CMOs, as well as human resources and public affairs.

Why should you attend?

For a French startup currently fundraising, FDDAY provides an opportunity to concentrate meetings with both French and European investment funds into a single day.

For a European scaleup looking to enter the French market, the event provides a commercial, financial and institutional gateway. The Latvian delegation has clearly understood the opportunity: Paris can serve as an entry point to major French corporates, but also to a broader ecosystem of European investors and decision-makers.

For investors, the event offers a concentrated overview of French companies while providing an opportunity to meet other funds without organising a series of separate trips. The presence of corporate executives also helps identify the sectors in which commercial demand is actually materialising.

For large companies, FDDAY provides an opportunity to identify potential suppliers and partners more quickly than through a traditional sourcing process.

FDDAY 2026, 16 September 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., at the Musée des Arts Forains, 10 rue Lheureux, Paris 12th arrondissement.
